Cookie policy
1. The website
lettersagainstnumbers.com needs no cookies to work and has no ads and no social buttons. To count visits it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies and stores nothing on your device: it only adds visits up in aggregate. The only cookies it may store are Google Analytics', and only if you accept them (section 2).
Your answer to the notice is kept for 12 months in the browser's local storage (localStorage), so it doesn't ask again. It is not a cookie, it doesn't leave your device and it is needed to respect your choice.
2. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)
If you accept it, we use Google Analytics 4 to learn in more detail how the website is used: pages viewed, where visits come from, device type and approximate country. To tell visits apart it stores a random identifier in these cookies, set by Google:
_ga: tells one browser from another. Duration: 2 years._ga_*: keeps the state of the current visit. Duration: 2 years.
- Prior consent: Analytics doesn't load or store cookies until you accept it in the notice shown when you enter. If you reject it or don't answer, it stays off. Where Google's consent notice appears, your answer there replaces the one given in ours.
- Changing your mind: through the "Privacy preferences" link at the bottom of the page (withdrawing consent deletes those cookies), by clearing your browser's cookies, or with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Google does not log or store your IP address in Analytics, and each visit's data is kept for 14 months at most. More in the privacy policy.
- Website only: neither the game nor the home page's demo uses Google Analytics.
3. What the browser version keeps
The browser version of the game (game.lettersagainstnumbers.com) keeps on your device, in the browser's local storage (localStorage) and cache:
- Your game: your progress and the run in progress, so the game opens where you left it and works offline.
- Your session: your account identifier and its access key, so the server knows it is you.
- Your preferences: language, sound and music.
- The game's files: a copy its service worker keeps so it opens offline and installs as an app.
All of this is strictly necessary for the game to work and needs no consent. It is not used to track you or for advertising.
If you clear the browsing data of game.lettersagainstnumbers.com, the game starts from scratch in that browser. If you had linked your Google account, sign in with it again to get your game back; if you played as a guest, that progress is lost.
4. Signing in with Google
If you choose to link or sign in with Google, you go to Google's page, which uses its own cookies under its cookie policy.
5. If this changes
If we add anything else that uses cookies, such as Google AdSense advertising on the website, we will update this page and ask for your consent before turning it on. Last change: Google Analytics on the website, with prior consent (October 2026).
6. How to delete this data
Your browser's settings let you clear the data of a single site: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
